Christina Ricci attends the Giffoni Festival in Italy

Recommended Movies: Black Snake Moan - Starring: Christina Ricci, Samuel L. Jackson and Justin Timberlake
In rural Mississippi, Lazarus, a former blues musician who survives by truck farming, finds a young girl nearly beaten to death near his home. She’s the white-trash town tramp, molded by a life of sexual abuse at the hands of her father and verbal abuse from her mother, who seems to delight in reminding Rae of her mistake in not aborting her. Lazarus, who is also facing personal crisis at the dissolution of his marriage, nurses Rae back to health, providing her with gentle, fatherly advice as well as an education in blues music. Rae’s boyfriend, Ronnie, goaded by the man who nearly beat Rae to death, misunderstands the relationship between Lazarus and Rae, and vows to kill him. Lazarus, exhibiting a street-smart understanding of violence and its motives, calls Ronnie’s bluff, senses that he is as troubled as Rae, and becomes a guiding force in the young couple’s resurrection. courtesy of IMDb

Christina Ricci Feels Safe With The Paparazzi Around

Actress Christina Ricci has admitted that she feels safe knowing the paparazzi are tracking her every move, because they are like her unofficial bodyguards.
"I feel safe with them around," she commented. "It is weird that every day there's going to be two guys parked outside your house and they're going to go shopping with you, and they're going to go to the gas station with you."
"But I kind of think of it as, if anyone ever tried to mug me or attack me, I'd be like, 'Listen, there are two guys back there who I am pretty sure would kick your ass in exchange for a posed photo.'" (Um, thanks?) Ricci, 29, told the Tonight Show With Jay Leno that the "paps" once helped her remove a snake from her driveway that she almost stepped on.
Yes, we can be very useful. . . another good one is rescuing celebs who have run out of gas and letting them borrow cash if they turn up short. ;) - Story From: theinsider.com

Christina Ricci for Montblanc - Exclusive Interview! - stylelist.com

Christina Ricci Black tattooChristina Ricci was one of several A-list actresses to take part in a photoshoot benefitting the Montblanc "Signature for Good" campaign, an initiative focusing on ending illiteracy. Once it's been going on for a year, Montblanc will present a check to UNICEF for at least $1.5 million.

We had a chance to chat with Christina, and once we got over just how nice she was (after we thanked her for chatting with us, she thanked us right back!), we talked about her favorite books, her sense of style, and why she thinks Juliet is a hipster.

Why did you choose Juliet?

When I thought of classic literature heroines, she just popped right into my head. Shakespeare is something that we study in school, and we put on the plays like "Romeo and Juliet," so I felt like she represented a lot of early education and classic literature that hopefully will be taught with this sort of education initiative.

What's your favorite book from childhood, or the present, or both?
When I was a kid, I was a huge fan of the Narnia Chronicles by C.S. Lewis. As an adult ... it's sort of pretentious sounding, but I love the Robert Pinsky translation of "Dante's Inferno." I'm also a huge murder mystery book reader -- every time I get on a plane I read a new one. I've been obsessed with Patricia Cornwell for a while now. Her Jack the Ripper book was, like, the best murder mystery/forensics book I've ever read.

Former Darkman Talks After.Life - shocktillyoudrop.com

Actor Liam Neeson tells Sci-Fi Wire that After.Life, the supernatural thriller he stars in with Christina Ricci, has wrapped is on track for an October release.

"I'm a funeral director, and I'm preparing a body, which happens to be Christina Ricci's," he says, "and she opens her eyes. I tell her, 'You're dead.' She says, 'I'm not dead.' I say, 'You are dead.' So you're not sure if it's a kind of a supernatural thriller or if this guy is a mass murderer. That's basically it in a nutshell."

Well, okay then. Fortunately, there are two other actors who joins this little mystery: Justin Long and Josh Charles. After.Life was once a vehicle for Kate Bosworth before Ricci stepped in. Agnieszka Vosloo writes and directs.

Strong cast makes ‘The Wackness’ work

NBC logo Thee Christina Ricci Info Blog Grimpuppy.comREVIEW

Alonso Duralde
Film critic
In “The Opposite of Sex,” Christina Ricci’s character disparagingly refers to the “and nothing was the same again after that summer” genre of movies. And while “The Wackness” technically fits into that category — and also into the category of “Sundance movies about quirky dysfunctional white people” — the strong performances lift it out of the world of cliché and turn it into one of the year’s more pleasant surprises.

The summer in question is 1994 — New York City’s local color is being threatened by Rudy Giuliani’s draconian policies, kids are listening to A Tribe Called Quest and Notorious B.I.G., and Luke Shapiro (Josh Peck) has just graduated from high school. While he acts as a dope connection for most of his classmates, he’s never felt close to any of them; when he makes a pot run to one fellow student’s house, he’s surprised to find a raging graduation party to which he hadn’t been invited. msnbc.com. Christina Ricci's career still growing

Christina Ricci Next To Speed Racer car on Thee Christina Ricci Info Blog

MAKING her splashy big-screen debut opposite Cher and Winona Ryder in Mermaids, aged nine, Christina Ricci has since starred in 40 more movies.

An unconventional-looking child, Ricci's expansive forehead and huge eyes initially typecast her as an oddball in family films The Addams Family and Casper, but by the age of 15 she had shaken off preconceptions with a small role in Anjelica Huston's harrowing tale of child abuse, Bastard Out of Carolina.

Before leaving her teens she had turned in complex performances as Kevin Kline's nymphomaniac daughter in The Ice Storm; as a laundromat worker who finds instant fame in John Waters' sweetly subversive comedy Pecker; and as a manipulative teen who seduces her gay brother's lover in The Opposite of Sex, earning a Golden Globe nomination in the process.

But though family problems and substance abuse caused the adult careers of many a former child star to falter – notably Home Alone's Macaulay Culkin and The Parent Trap's Lindsay Lohan – Ricci has shimmied effortlessly through her coming of age.

Christina Ricci looking on bright side of life

Christina Ricci as Speed Racer thumb on Grimpuppy.com The BlogErin McWhirter
June 12, 2008 12:00am

CHRISTINA Ricci has had her share of Hollywood demons, including anorexia, but she's currently enjoying life with an Aussie boyfriend, and a hit new action film.
As Hollywood hot property Christina Ricci reflects on spending Christmas and New Year's Eve with her Aussie boyfriend Kick Gurry in Australia, she breaks into a wide smile.

At first, the petite star seems somewhat guarded, but later shows a softer side, dishing out a small glimmer of her down-to-earth personality and possibly the very reason her Speed Racer co-star Gurry fell for her.

Spending the summer in Australia was blissful for the pair, who met on the live-action remake of the 1960s Japanese cartoon last year, spending the festive season soaking up the rays in Sydney.
The visit even left Ricci, 28, contemplating moving to Australia one day, no doubt moving into Gurry's lavish Darling Point home, right next door to Oscar winner Nicole Kidman and her country crooning husband, Keith Urban.

Though The Addams Family, Mermaids and Monster star kept a lid on her relationship, it appears her new beau's Aussie spirit has rubbed off on the actor.

‘‘For me, I have definitely grown out of thinking jaded is cool. I used to have a real problem with sincerity, I was always sarcastic, but I think now I am confident enough within myself to be sincere,'' she admits.

Ricci has come a long way from the extremes of her troubled youth, when she battled anorexia to emerge as the confident woman she is today.

‘‘What's funny to me is when people say, ‘Don't you feel Hollywood has made it hard for you?', but the thing is my real life has made things hard for me,'' Ricci reveals.

‘‘Making movies was like my refuge. It was so much fun. Just being a real person and having growing pains, that was tough, not acting.''

The new grown-up Ricci may not have realised she was a role model early on, but she does now and she loves it. One movie in particular, the fantasy love story Penelope, was the film that showcased that feeling.

Even though the film went straight to DVD in Australia after bad box-office sales around the world, Ricci gives it credit for raising self-esteem issues and exploring them.

In the film Ricci's character, Penelope, is protected from the public when she's born with a pig's nose. The only way to break the spell is for Penelope to fall in love. However, it isn't the love of someone else but the love of herself that will rid her of the nose that has caused her grief for decades.

‘‘I think a lot of us have insecurities that we blow so far out of proportion and we get so dramatic about it that we might as well be a third-degree burns victim,'' she says.

In her latest big-screen outing alongside John Goodman, Susan Sarandon and Matthew Fox, Ricci portrays Trixie, a girl who is madly in love with Speed Racer (played by Emile Hirsch), but also has the need for speed.

‘‘The thing I love about Trixie is that she is Speed's girlfriend, so she has planned things with him and schemes with him, so she is really smart. But besides that, she drives a helicopter and watches the road for him. She does everything. I loved it so much that now I want to do some more action. I want to play a spy and some sort of FBI agent, but I really, really, really want to do another action film.'' - STORY FROM news.com.au

Christina Ricci's saving plan

Christina Ricci hates spending money. The 'Speed Racer' actress never spends any of her wages and prefers to put her money into a savings account.

She said: "I like shopping but I don't like spending. I have trouble parting with my money. I'm not being very frivolous right now. I'm the past it was shoes. But right now I'm not buying clothes. I'm saving. "I'm at that point where I feel like an adult - so I can't just live from pay cheque to pay cheque.

One likes to have something to fall back on, I would imagine. Like a safety net of some kind. Savings! You are supposed to have savings!" Christina also revealed she prefers spending time with family and friends at home rather than partying.

She added: "If someone is having a birthday party or something then I will go out, but I partied in my early twenties and I'm kind of over it now. I like nice quiet dinners and parlour games!" - Story from chinadaily.com.cn

Fast-talking: Hirsch, Ricci share thoughts on `Speed Racer'

By DAVID GERMAIN – May 6, 2008 - From: ap.google.com
LAS VEGAS (AP) — "Speed Racer" stars Emile Hirsch and Christina Ricci are better known for smaller independent movies than summer blockbusters.
Yet they could not pass up the chance to work with Larry and Andy Wachowski on the brothers' first writing-directing effort after "The Matrix" trilogy.
After the lesbian thriller "Bound" and their science-fiction franchise, all dark R-rated affairs, the Wachowskis have gone the family route with the PG-rated "Speed Racer," a live-action and computer-animated update of the TV cartoon series.
Hirsch, who starred last year in Sean Penn's acclaimed drama "Into the Wild," plays Speed, the young phenomenon of the Racer family, who gets behind the wheel to take on a corrupt corporate honcho ruining auto racing.
Ricci, most recently seen as a pig-faced girl in the fairy-tale romance "Penelope," plays Speed's girlfriend Trixie, who flies the skies in her helicopter to scout out the race course.
With the Wachowskis reteaming with "Matrix" producer Joel Silver, "Speed Racer" also stars John Goodman, Susan Sarandon, Matthew Fox and a pet chimpanzee that's constantly getting into trouble.
Hirsch, 23, and Ricci, 28, chatted with The Associated Press at March's ShoWest theater-owners convention, where distributor Warner Bros. showed off footage of "Speed Racer." The movie opens Friday.
